What an incredible day celebrating entrepreneurship, student and staff success!
We’re proud to share that Sask DLC was recognized with the Get a Bigger Wagon: Guiding the Entrepreneur-Ship Award, celebrating the impact our business courses offer and our Business Club’s extracurricular programming to students across Saskatchewan. Hosted by Maureen and Gord Haddock, on January 20, at the Edwards School of Business on the University of Saskatchewan campus, the award highlighted the value of students from many communities coming together to learn, collaborate, and explore entrepreneurship. Our Sask DLC Business Club leaders, Cindy Lowe, Curtis Ehresman and Jeff Klyne accepted the award on behalf of Sask DLC.
The day also included a tour of the live stock market trading room and an interactive demo which was a very cool experience. Students and staff also heard from keynote speaker Dr. Monique Simair, a scientist-turned-entrepreneur who shared her powerful journey of turning career setbacks into opportunity. Her message of curiosity, grit, and hope deeply resonated with students and reinforced why entrepreneurship skills matter in every career path.
The celebration continued with the Youth Entrepreneurship Awards, where students ages 5–18 were recognized with cash prizes generously donated by Gord and Maureen Haddock. We were thrilled to see two Sask DLC Business Club students honoured:
Jaxson, for his beekeeping business
Gianna, for her handmade accessories business
This recognition is a true testament to the incredible work happening through our Business Club and the dedication our teachers have to their students.
Sask DLC students are invited to a field trip to the University of Saskatchewan to:
✔️ Tour the Edwards School of Business
✔️ Hear inspiring entrepreneurial stories
✔️ Celebrate youth innovators at the Get a Bigger Wagon Entrepreneur Awards
💡 It will be a fun afternoon of explore entrepreneurship, getting inspired and making connections.
