The Skills Canada Saskatchewan Competition is March 28 in Saskatoon. It gives you the chance to showcase your talent in trades and technology. If you place 1st in your competition, you have the option to attend the National Skills Competition May 29/30 in Regina. If you're interested in registering, please speak with your teacher.
The competition on May 1-2 is for Finance 30, Accounting 30, or Entrepreneurship 30 students. Teams of three have a few hours to prepare a 15-minute case presentation for a judging panel of Saskatchewan business leaders. It’s a great opportunity to sharpen presentation skills and network. Interested? Contact Mrs. Lowe at cindy.lowe@saskDLC.ca.
Youth entrepreneurs are invited to create a "pitch" for a business idea on May 6 from 9:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. in Swift Current. If you would like to learn more, please reach out to Sask DLC teacher, Mrs. Lowe at cindy.lowe@saskDLC.ca.
Sask DLC students attended the 18th annual Haddock Entrepreneurial Speaker Presentation and the 7th Get A Bigger Wagon Young Entrepreneur Awards (GABWYEA) that took place on January 21, 2025, at the Edwards School of Business. Entrepreneur Grant Kook (from Outlook, SK) started the event with an entertaining and inspirational speech on perseverance, determination and encouraged the students to embrace the opportunity to become an entrepreneur. As well, young business owners from 7 to 18 years of age received cash prizes ranging from $500 to $1500 in five age categories. Sask DLC students should watch for this event next year with the upcoming entrepreneurship awards event opening again in September 2025.
